Something like that....

....is what I thought Air Force One and the President of the United States would look like. My Mother's Day was one of a kind in the sense that I, along with a handful of other viewers, got to see AFO land here at Langley AFB and watch as the POTUS deplaned and got escorted off (with 15-some motorcycles and around 20 other vehicles) to speak at a local graduation. SO cool!

The plane is really big, I knew it would be, but really, it is huge.

The POTUS looks just like pictures and TV have portrayed him.

Here is the guy who made this happen for us. A fellow pilot of Brad's who we were stationed with at Kadena. Thanks Blue for a once in a lifetime opportunity! It was fun to say ,"We are with that guy!"

Who knows, maybe one day this plane could be hers!
(Thanks Steph, for this photo).

All in all, I got to spend another day with a family I am blessed to call my own!

I hope every Mother, especially my own, had a beautiful day!

Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you!

I get home from Music class today with the kids and as I am getting Miss A out of her carseat I hear a VERY close police siren and a lady on the megaphone saying, 'Please stop where you are'. Honestly, what would you do in this situation? Well, I froze and slightly turned around to see if she was talking to me. She was not thankfully, but she was talking to two men walking right along my street. I started rubbernecking, standing in my driveway watching this unfold, but then I see not one, not two, not three, not four, but 5 police cars start pulling up around these guys. I figured at that point, it might not be a good idea to be standing outside with a child in my arms. So, I did what any concerned parent/neighbor would do and watched from our front window. (Ohh, come on, you know you would have done the same thing too.....) Even more, I took a photo!

So, I am thinking I should either be really worried about who these two gentlemen were roaming our neighborhood with the need of 6 police cars to handle them OR I can chalk it up to the N.N. police officers being very thorough when they are handling a situation. I am choosing to believe scenerio number two to help me sleep better at night.

A day in our life.

It has just been the same old same old around here. Just gearing up for the hotter summer months, getting into a routine of how our days are going to be, etc. So, I thought I would share how a typical day is around our house for anyone who was wondering.....

Wake up- 630-7 (if we are lucky to push it that late). We get a little breakfast and enjoy some playtime.

Mid-morning- If we are not scooting off to the library for story time, playgroup, music class, or the grocery store we are usually having fun rearranging ALL the toys in the playroom, cleaning the house, playing 'mommy', or enjoying being outside.

Lunch time- This is usually an anxious time for me knowing I get to look forward to at least 45 minutes (or an hour on good days) that both children are napping at the same time. Let me tell you, I can accomplish A LOT in that small amount of time, who knew??!

Late afternoon- Once the mobile kiddo is up and running (literally these days), we are outside yet again, usually on a run around the park or just hanging out in the backyard. Sometimes on the weekends, Miss A likes to help Daddy with his chores as well!

Dinner time- I realized the other day how nice it was to actually look at Brad while I was talking to him instead of wrestling with Miss A or feeding her. Do not get me wrong, we each still have an eye on her and take turns with the 'no throwing your food', etc, but all in all to have a self-sufficient eater is wonderful......until in a few weeks when Mr. B joins us for the meals, then back to square one.

Bedtime- Ahhh, how I look forward to the routine for both kiddos. Mr. B tucks in around 7 and the little Misses at 8. Wow, I think I manage an hour before I am ready to tuck myself in, but I would not change our balanced yet hectic days because each one ends in memories!

Here is to another one tomorrow......good night.

The 'Sweetest' things in life

I gave up sweets for Lent this year. I realized once I did this I had to categorize what a sweet was to myself because this was such a broad category. Does a cinnamon roll count? To me....nope! A sweet n salty granola bar? Nope. What about the girl scout cookies that came 5 days after Lent started? Of course THEY count! During these 40 days I attended two baby showers and you know what that means! Cakes, mints, cookies, sweets, sweets, sweets. I really did try to reason my way into eating some things by thinking, I did not want to be rude to the hostesses by NOT trying all of the delicious items they had made/bought, etc...but I chose to stick to my guns (dangit!)

My willpower paid off.

I have never been more excited to eat a cookie until I found this on my doorstep the Saturday before Easter. My friend Stephanie, who we were stationed with in Okinawa and now here, makes desserts from scratch and was one of the hostesses at said baby showers. She remembered that I gave up sweets and she made these especially for me! Talk about Sweet !
I had to share the pictures of what a superb job she did and they tasted as yummy as they looked, (they were gone in almost three days....hey, I shared them with Brad and Miss A).

They looked SO yummy!

Just a peek,.....(my mouth started watering just smelling them!)

Look at how adorable and well decorated they were!

ALMOST too cute to eat.....

A Perfect Day (and a half)

One of many we have had, but add special, once in a lifetime, one for the blog, etc....and that sums up our Easter weekend. We had a beautiful day on Sunday. Woke up earlier than normal to get ourselves ready for the 7:00 morning church service (to avoid the over packed church services during the day), thankfully our plan worked out well. It was a great service (quiet) and the homily was great! What a perfect way to start our day by celebrating the LORD...HE is RISEN!! Got home, let Miss A find her eggs around the house and delve into her and Mr. B's baskets and then off into the van to head to Washington D.C!

We dropped our bags at our hotel and out the door to take in the sights and the Cherry Blossom festival. It was a beautiful sunny 70's kind of day. The trees were blooming beautifully and the scenery and museums were not too shabby either! After a long afternoon of walking and taking in the sights we headed back to the hotel for a good nights sleep..... (which translates to a mediocre sleep because really, who ever gets a wonderful nights sleep in a hotel?).

Monday morning bright and early we started our day getting dressed and ready for the 'once in a lifetime' memory I was talking about earlier. Ever heard of the White House Easter Egg Roll? (Backtracking a little....) Well, I had not until March when Brad's boss called to ask if we would mind being entered to get 4 tickets to the event.....really?...of course I would not mind!!! As soon as I got off the phone with him I googled it and WOW, what a fun event! Having not heard anything I assumed the tickets were given to another family of four until last week when Brad told me he had to pick up the tickets! SUPER excited! If you would like to learn a little more about this White House tradition that started in 1878, click here.

Anyway, here is a little video I made this morning to keepsake this weekend for our family. Sorry kinda long. We have a few more pictures on our web album, click here if you would like to see those.

We hope you all had as blessed an Easter as we did! Praise be to GOD!
